Chitwan

Part of the Tarai region that extends along the base of the Himalayan foothills from Northern India through Bhutan, Chitwan Valley was once a vibrant ecosystem of dense jungle, grasslands, and marshes.  Resistant to malaria, the indigenous Tharu farmed, fished, and hunted here.Farmers from the hills began moving to Chitwan Valley in the 1950s when the government sprayed DDT to eliminate mosquitoes.  The population as well as road, towns, houses grew rapidly.  Except for Chitwan National Park and a few other reserves, the native forests and grasslands mostly disappeared.  Small farms proliferated.Taking advantage of flat land and irrigation, farmers made Chitwan a breadbasket of Nepal.  But like farmers participating in “green revolutions” throughout the world, they gained their high yields through chemical fertilizers, pesticides, mechanization, hybrid seeds, and borrowed money. there is a royal national park. Royal Chitwan National Park is situated in the flat lowland region of southern Nepal, just close to the Indian boundary. Royal Chitwan National Park is one of the most important sub-tropical parks on the Indian subcontinent with good populations of the endangered Royal Bengal tiger, Greater One-horned rhinos, Gangetic dolphin (Platanista gangetica), Wild Asian elephant, Gaur, Golden Monitor lizard, Gharial crocodile and many more. The Royal Chitwan National Park has a range of climatic seasons, each offering an unique experience. October through February with an average temperatures of 25 degree centigrade offer an enjoyable climate. From March to June temperatures can reach as high as 43 degree centigrade. The hot humid days give way to the monsoon season that generally lasts from the late June until September. Rivers become flooded and roads are inaccessible during this period.

Mt. Everest. Soaring almost five and a half miles into the sky, piercing the jet stream with its iconic summit and blanketed in colossal glaciers, few mountains have the power to conjure up as many notions of history, legacy, excitement, and challenge as this mountain does. In 1978 Reinhold Messner and Peter Habeler were the first to climb Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen. Messner later described his summit experience: "In my state of spiritual abstraction, I no longer belong to myself and to my eyesight. I am nothing more than a single narrow gasping lung, floating over the mists and summits." In 1980 Messner made the first solo ascent, which was via a new route on the mountain's north side.Mount Everest is also called Chomolangma, meaning “Goddess Mother of Snows” in Tibetan and Sagarmatha, meaning "Mother of the Universe" in Nepalese. The Buddha stayed in Lumbinívana during his visit to Devadaha and there preached the Devadaha Sutta.
